Dead by Daylight Unveils New Killer Inspired by Tokyo Ghoul
May 09, 2025

Kaneki is the long-awaited killer in Dead by Daylight. He's the half-ghoul hero from Tokyo Ghoul. Get ready, Survivors, because he shows no mercy. His skills are toxic, aimed at bringing you down fast.
For a year, players guessed Kaneki would join Dead by Daylight. It started with hints hidden in places made by the game. Back in Chapter 31, a theater sign showed a fake movie called "The Ghoul's Lament." More hints came in February with a radio message in a locked office.
Dead by Daylight's social media confirmed the Tokyo Ghoul crossover, adding Kaneki. He's called the Ghoul in the game. The makers say this Killer is their own dark twist on Ken Kaneki. He has skills that make escape a nightmare. He moves fast, using four tentacles for his Kagune Leap skill. This lets him jump past pallets and walls. He can leap twice, and if he hits on the second leap, the Survivor gets Deep Wounds. Survivors also get a Kagune Mark, making the ghoul more fierce, letting him leap a third time over more obstacles.
He has three perks that make him move better than Survivors. Hex: Nothing But Misery slows players hit by a basic attack. Forever Entwined lets The Ghoul speed up when picking up, dropping, or hooking Survivors after a successful hit. None Are Free lets him block windows and pallets late in the round after Survivors turn on all generators.
A new fast killer contrasts with the Skull Merchant changes. The Skull Merchant got big updates in March. They tried to make her more active, but she still uses drones for tracking and attack, unlike the Ghoul's direct style.
